Each local V-Day production generates funds for organisations that work to end violence against women. These funds are donated to organisations in the city, town or village of the V-Day producer, helping support the local services that work with survivors of abuse and that develop preventative campaigns and projects.
In addition to this, V-Day receives regular donations from the commercial production of The Vagina Monologues. These funds are distributed among 9 national charities:
Greater London Domestic Violence Project
International Planned Parenthood Federation
South Essex Rape and Crisis Centre
Womansaid Federation of England
At the international level, V-Day ensures that funding flows towards some of the most pressing injustices in the lives of women. This is achieved through the V-Day Spotlight, a campaign that highlights one theme of gender violence in the world each year. In practice, the Spotlight campaign invites each local V-Day organiser to donate 10% of their proceeds to the year's chosen issue. Past Spotlight themes have been ‘Native American and First Nations Women' and ‘Women in Iraq'.
